If you are starting to get to know me, the first thing I’m going to say about myself is that I love reading, that it’s one of my hobbies. And for many years I was in the biggest reading slump ever, and I seriously thought I was not going to get out of it. To the point that I even donated most of my books. I know. But this year, as soon as I started to create my vision board, I added ‘read more,’ and my anxious self-thought it was a good idea to challenge me to read at least 25 books this year. Since I love a good challenge, I was not going to back down. And let me tell you, I fell in love again.
My initial thought was that I needed to get used to reading on a phone/tablet/Kindle, since it’s the easiest to read on the go. My initial thought was that I needed to acclimate reading on a phone, tablet, or Kindle, as it is the most convenient option for reading while on the move. Although I was initially opposed to the idea, I decided to bring my Kindle, and the outcome has been quite significant. I discovered that I could obtain books for the Kindle at no cost or for a very low price, and even if I already possess a book in PDF format, I can transfer it to the device for reading. Literally. I learned that I could get books for the Kindle for free or for an extremely low price, or even if I already own a book on PDF, I can send it there and read it. Needless to say, I don’t go anywhere without it anymore. I will leave my phone at home first, then leave the Kindle. Now that I think about it, I haven’t given it a name…
A few months into the year, I was talking to another bookie, and she told me that she reads them physically and on Kindle and buys a lot of audiobooks, and that helps her with her reading challenge. It was definitely an idea that I could explore, but I found it as if I was cheating on the system since I’m not actually reading a book. But I tried it; I’m not a fan of it. Not going to lie. But hey, it works, and let me tell you, the second that you get hooked to it, it is as if you are reading a book; you get all the feelings—chills, cries, laughs, everything.
However, this does not mean that I haven’t brought any physical books; in fact, I have brought some, and I’m excited about it. I even subscribed to Book of the Month, which I am really excited about. But this is not the point. The point is that my reading challenge in 2025 is for 25 books. As of today, August 2025, I have read 22 books, and I’m pretty comfortable saying that I know I will complete the challenge and read a few more books.
Later on, I will give out a review of all the books I have read so far. If you want to follow my Goodreads account, you can keep track of which book I am reading, and it would be nice to receive updates on all of them.
